The concept for this artwork stems from one of Glass’s song titles ‘Mad Rush’. Upon hearing, imagery of fast paced, chaotic visuals, similar to the experimental style of his music, appear in the mind. To visualise this, long exposure photography and layering of busy compositions are utilised.
The long exposure allowed the camera to capture the paths of car headlights, which represent the style of the music, including a nod the to physical sheet music that Glass composes.
By stripping the colour of the photographs they become more open to abstract interpretation and allows the eye to focus on texture and composition over colour stimuli.
